Show Me Shorts Film Festival kicked off in Auckland last night with a glamorous opening and awards night. Finalists were competing in eight award categories, as judged by experienced film industry writer Kathryn Burnett, director James Cunningham and actor Tammy Davis.
This is Her (pictured) was the big winner on the night, taking home the coveted Kodak Best Film Award along with Best Screen Play, while The Six Dollar Fifty Man continues its successful festival outings by taking away Best Director.
The fifth annual Show Me Shorts Film Festival has announced the nominees for all eight award categories. This Is Her (pictured) has been highlighted as one to watch, with nominations in five different categories, while Brave Donkey and Choice Night are also highly noted with four nominations each. All nominees are competing for a total prize pool valued at over $10,000, with the major award for Kodak Best Film taking away enough reels of Kodak motion picture film to shoot their next short film.
The Show Me Shorts Film Festival presents the StarNow.com Short Film Seminar in Wellington on 15 November. Open to anyone interested in short films, the seminar is a unique opportunity to meet experienced filmmakers, see some great short films and learn more about the craft of short filmmaking.
Presenters include Paul Stanley Ward, Paul Campion and Michelle Savill.
