Writers, producers and developers are invited to register their interest for upcoming Script Factory Foundation Development Training Workshops to be held throughout New Zealand from early 2011. The Script Factory is the UK’s leading script development organisation. Founded in 1996, it has pioneered professional training in the areas of script reading and script development.

The NZFC has announced the New Zealand Film Commission Review meetings have been deferred “for a couple of weeks”. The new dates, time and venue details will be advised next week.

NZ On Screen is delighted to present this record of Brian Brake’s formative moving image work to complement the launch of a major Brake exhibition at Te Papa. Alongside the exhibition surveying Brake’s life’s work, a magnificent book, Brian Brake: Lens on the World (edited by Athol McCredie), has been published by Te Papa Press. The exhibition opens on 23 October 2010.

Script to Screen is delighted to announce the 2011 US Screenwriting Internship Scholarship to Killer Films. The winning applicant will be flown to New York and have their living costs for three months while they work as an intern in the busy script department of Killer Films, a company at the forefront of independent American cinema that’s responsible features including Kids, Happiness, Boys Don’t Cry, Far from Heaven and I’m Not There.

From the initial idea to realising the film and distribution, the focus of this seminar will be the practical realities of documentary directing.

Hawke’s Bay is welcoming its seventh OpenAir Cinema season starting on December 27th at Black Barn Vineyards in Havelock North. Whilst the new film line-up is still being finalised, there will be plenty of variety to satisfy a broad range of movie appetites. The highlights of the last season were the sell-out screening of This Way of Life and the marvellous experience of The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
